(please read thru this once even if this is not your first time at a retreat)
- Quilting Supplies(label your items such as rulers, cutters, scissors etc.)
- Power Strip - to plug in your sewing machine and/or lamp (if you are bringing one)
- Lamp - to have extra lighting at your station
- Seat Cushion - some people like to sit up higher or just get a bit more cushion
- Sewing Machine - of course - and don’t forget your power cord and foot pedal!
- Your projects and supplies - Remember this is OPEN SEW. So, you can bring whatever you want. Most people bring a couple projects to switch it up. You could also work on the SV MQG challenge blocks. Bring: fabric, pattern, thread, needles, rotary cutter, rulers, seam ripper, scissors, extra bobbins!
- Design wall (a piece of batting) - optional as we will also hang a few throughout the room, but this way you can keep one near your work station
- Comfortable clothing. Yoga Pants have actually been renamed to “Quilters Pants”. So, wear something that won’t pinch while sitting on a chair all day. Also, remember, May can be warm, so bring a pair of shorts for walking.
- Walking Shoes. The retreat is near some beautiful walking trails. We lead you on some optional walking trips thru the cute village and then on the trails back up the hill (3 mile walk = 1 hour) on Saturday and Sunday morning.
- Travel Mug and Water Bottle. Hidden Valley provides hot water, tea, coffee and also filtered cold water. This way you can refill, help the environment and avoid spills.
- Toiletries. What ever you use. The retreat will provide bedding and towels. But bring some shampoo and soap.
- 1 Snack to Share. Please restrain yourself and bring only 1 Snack to share (e.g., a bag of apples, a bag of popcorn, some chocolate, some cheese, crackers) - no one likes to take home what has been sitting for 3 days - so less is more IMO.
- Cash for door prize tickets. We will have at least 12 awesome door prizes. I mean really awesome - one of them $120 retail value (a box of 12 spools of Aurifil). And every attendee will receive a goody bag that is valued at minimum $20. So, you will leave the retreat with some stuff guaranteed. In addition, you can win door prizes. To help fund our guild (and a few expense for the retreat), we are selling the opportunity to win the door prizes at $2.00 per ticket.
The following items will be set-up for everyone to use and share:
- Every attendee will have a workstation in the workroom (we are sharing 6’ tables per 2 people)
- 3 Full Size Ironing Boards with Irons
- Blue Tape for taping down cords
- 3 Batting sheets to be used as Design Walls
- 2-3 large cutting mats will be set-up in the room
